Your Workflow, Upgraded: The MixFlow Premium Manual

MixFlow is designed to be an intuitive extension of your studio environment. Here is a guide to integrating each module into your professional workflow to achieve faster results and better mixes.

BPM Sync Calculator

Purpose: To achieve perfectly timed, professional-sounding delays and reverbs without guesswork.

How to Use: Enter your project’s tempo into the Project BPM box. The grid instantly provides the precise millisecond (ms) values for all standard rhythmic divisions. Use these values in the “Time” parameter of your delay plugins or, crucially, in the “Pre-Delay” setting on your reverbs to create space and clarity in your mix.

Gain Stage Target

Purpose: To start your mix with proper headroom, preventing digital clipping and ensuring a clean, dynamic foundation for mastering.

How to Use: Enter the total number of tracks in your session (audio, MIDI, busses) into the Total Track Count box. The tool provides a recommended peak level (in dBFS) for each individual track. Set your track faders or use a trim plugin so they peak around this target, ensuring your master bus remains well below 0 dB.

Interactive Frequency Workstation

Purpose: To bridge the gap between technical frequency data and musical decision-making. This is your command center for surgical EQ and harmonic enhancement.

How to Use:

  • Interactive Piano: Click any key to instantly see its note name and precise frequency. This is invaluable for identifying the root notes of your instruments or for visual learners to connect musical notes with their position in the frequency spectrum.
  • Find Note by Frequency: When your spectrum analyzer shows a problematic resonant peak (e.g., at 493Hz), type “493” into the input. The piano will light up the closest note (B4), giving you the musical context behind the technical issue.
  • Harmonic Analyzer: Enter the fundamental frequency of your bass or kick drum (e.g., 65Hz for C2). The tool displays the exact frequencies of its crucial harmonics. Use this information to guide your saturation plugins, adding warmth and ensuring your bass translates perfectly to smaller speakers like laptops and phones.

Session Notes

Purpose: To create a permanent, professional record of your technical and creative decisions for every project.

How to Use: Throughout your session, log critical settings (“Kick compressed with 4:1 ratio,” “Lead vocal delay set to 250ms”), calculations from MixFlow, and creative reminders. When you finish, click Export Notes as .txt. Save the resulting text file inside your DAW’s project folder. This professional habit guarantees you can recall your mix settings perfectly, even months later.
