About Audionerdz
Audionerdz is a small, independent audio lab and instrument studio led by producer and technologist Samuel “Parandroid” Zimmermann, based in Leipzig, Germany.
What began as a way to teach and mentor other artists has evolved into a focused effort to design new tools for making sound – from advanced synthesizers to experimental AI-driven engines.
Where It Started
In 2014, Samuel founded Instinct Learning: a series of intensive workshops and mentoring formats for electronic music producers.
Drawing on more than a decade of touring and releasing music under the Parandroid project, Instinct Learning combined:
Practical production techniques
Creative process guidance
A strong sense of community and mutual support
Workshops brought together participants and guest instructors from around the world, creating a space where sound design, technical craft, and personal artistic development lived side by side.
The financial impact of COVID-19 eventually made it impossible to continue Instinct Learning in its original, in-person format. Rather than ending the story, this forced a pivot: away from live workshops and toward building tools that could carry the same spirit further and reach more people.
From Academy to Instrument Studio
Out of that pivot came Audionerdz – initially conceived as an “academy,” but increasingly focused on creating instruments and audio technology rather than running courses.
The core idea stayed the same:
Help producers and sound designers go deeper into their craft
by giving them powerful, thoughtfully designed tools.
What changed is the medium. Instead of mainly teaching, Audionerdz now puts most of its energy into developing, refining, and supporting audio software.
Today: VECTRA and Omega
Audionerdz currently works along two main product lines:
VECTRA – Procedural Power Synth
VECTRA is our first commercial instrument: a procedural, high-powered synthesizer designed for producers who want deep control, evolving timbres, and a non-generic sound.
It is already in the hands of early adopters and is being refined in active use – with no large marketing push, just word of mouth and a focus on serving the people who find it.
VECTRA represents the “hands-on” side of Audionerdz: a tangible, playable instrument for working artists.
Omega – Experimental AI for Sound
In parallel, we are developing Omega, a long-term research engine exploring how AI can help shape and organize sound at a higher level.
Omega is not a finished product or a marketing tagline. It is an ongoing R&D effort aimed at:
New ways of expressing sound intent
New ways of letting intelligent systems assist in the design of instruments and signal flows
New kinds of interaction between human intuition and machine support
Omega will first appear in tightly controlled, private prototypes and selected collaborations, and later – when it is ready – in concrete tools built on top of it.
What Audionerdz Stands For
Across all of this, a few things remain constant:
Artist-first mindset
Everything starts from the perspective of a working producer and performer, not from abstract technology alone.
Depth over hype
We would rather build fewer things and make them deep, strange, and genuinely useful than chase trends or quick wins.
Independent and self-driven
Audionerdz is small, self-directed, and not backed by a large company. That allows us to take risks and pursue ideas that don’t fit neatly into existing categories.
Looking Ahead
The current chapter of Audionerdz is about instruments and engines:
Developing and supporting VECTRA as a powerful, evolving synth for producers.
Quietly, steadily building Omega into a stable foundation for future tools and collaborations.
The original spirit of Instinct Learning – sharing knowledge, nurturing creativity, and taking sound seriously – is still here. It simply lives now in the form of instruments, experiments, and long-term research rather than in classrooms and workshops.
