VECTRA 2.1.0

Codename: Surfaces

Three of VECTRA's deepest systems, finally all the way into your hands.

Reach the engine. Perform the patch. See what you shape.

VECTRA 2.1.0 opens up three surfaces that were already deep in the instrument — the dual filter, the living-DNA Genome, and Genesis — and puts each of them fully within reach.

Release 2.1.0
Headline Changes

If you only read three lines.

This release is about reach: taking systems that were already powerful and giving each of them a surface worthy of it.

01 // FILTER CORE

The dual filter, finally unlocked by its own panel.

The polymorphic dual-filter engine you've had since day one now has a dedicated interface — a truthful, grabbable response graph over a live analyzer.

02 // Genome

A living-DNA surface you perform, not watch.

Every rung of the helix is a real, mouse-controllable parameter, framed by cinematic camera work and direct semantic editing.

03 // Genesis UI 2.0

Describe a sound. Hear four answers.

The front end of VECTRA's deterministic sound-design system, rebuilt for clarity — legible candidates, restored feedback, sharper intelligence underneath.

FILTER CORE

The filter, finally in reach.

VECTRA's dual polymorphic filter has always been one of its deepest systems — thirteen models, serial and parallel routing, per-filter drive and a model-aware Character control. What it hasn't had is a way to see it. FILTER CORE is that surface: a dedicated panel that finally puts the whole engine in front of you.

  • A live, truthful response graph rendered over a real-time analyzer — the curve on screen is the sound in the air.
  • Grab the A/B nodes and sculpt the response by hand, directly on the curve.
  • Serial / Parallel routing, a musical Link law and Balance, laid out where the work actually happens.
  • Every model reachable at a glance — Ladder LP12/LP24, HP, BP, Notch, Peak, Formant, Comb, Morph SVF, Vowel, Phase, SEM, Varislope.

The engine isn't new — it's been in VECTRA since the December 2025 early-access release. What's new is the panel that finally makes it playable.

Genome

A performance surface of its own.

Genome is a first-class VECTRA surface, reachable straight from the header: an interactive living-DNA renderer where every rung of the helix is a real, mouse-controllable parameter. This release pushed it further than any before — more fluid, more responsive, more genuinely an instrument you perform.

  • Curated camera stages — Overview, Region, Detail and Inspection — plus a Free camera and Auto-Orbit.
  • Hold SPACE to enter Snipe, targeting individual elements for direct, semantic editing on the strand.
  • A HELIX presentation mode that frames the surface for performance and capture.
  • Genesis floats in as an overlay, so you can generate without leaving the performance view.
Genesis UI 2.0

Effectively a new instrument.

Describe a sound in plain language and hear distinct answers to it. Genesis has taken its biggest leap yet — sharper intelligence underneath and a presentation rebuilt from the ground up. If you last touched it months ago, it won't feel like the same tool.

  • A readable, machined panel that presents generated candidates as distinct, legible identities.
  • Restored feedback workflow, so shaping and steering Genesis results is direct again.
  • Sizes cleanly between a compact and a medium presentation, and docks into Performance Mode.
  • The front end of VECTRA's deterministic, plan-first sound-design system.

In The Instrument

FILTER CORE in a real patch, Genome in performance, Genesis docked, and the synth page it all feeds back into.

Navigation & Workflow

Faster to get around.

Small changes to how you move through VECTRA, so the new surfaces are always one click away.

Header Menu

A new main menu in the header.

A reorganised header menu brings navigation, presets and access to the new surfaces together in one clear place.

First-class heroes

Genome & Genesis in the header.

Both are promoted to first-class header controls with clear active-state indication and refined Undo / Redo.

Reliability

A cleaner start-up.

An initialisation fix makes VECTRA load more consistently, so you land in a known-good state every session.

Stability & Polish

Refined across the instrument.

Dozens of UI refinements across the synth — the kind you feel more than you notice — plus targeted reliability fixes.

A Note From the Developer

Powerful is only half of it.

A lot of VECTRA's depth has lived under the surface for a while — the filter engine, the Genome, the intelligence in Genesis. This release is about the other half of the job: giving each of those systems a surface that finally does it justice, so the power is actually in your hands and not just in the code.

FILTER CORE turns the filter into something you shape by eye and ear at once. Genome becomes a surface you perform. And Genesis feels, honestly, like a new instrument. Thank you to the community whose feedback shaped all three.
