VECTRA 2.2.8 / NOTE DNA EXPANSION

NOTE DNA goes deeper.

The first major NOTE DNA expansion grows the system from 115 to 164 eligible parameters—bringing per-note sound states into Macros, modulation depth, Unison, Sample, Grainfield and more.

THE IDEA

One preset can become a map of note-specific behavior.

When NOTE DNA arrived in VECTRA 2.2.6, the core idea was already unusual: individual MIDI notes could carry their own sound states while one parent preset remained the foundation.

VECTRA 2.2.8 takes that idea much further. The parameter surface now reaches deep enough into VECTRA that NOTE DNA starts to feel less like a variation system and more like a new layer of instrument design.

Not 128 independent patches. One instrument with a designed internal map of note-specific behavior.

THE EXPANSION / 49 NEW TARGETS

Five additions change what NOTE DNA can actually do.

The headline number is 164 eligible parameters, but the important part is where those additional targets live.

01

Macros

Macro 1–8 can now become note-specific, letting a single Lock influence a much broader musical gesture.

02

Modulation depth

All 32 modulation-route depths are eligible, so the intensity of an existing route can differ from note to note.

03

Sample + Grain

Sample Root Note and Grain Seed extend NOTE DNA into more structural sample-domain behavior.

04

Unison

Voice count and phase randomization can become part of the identity of an individual note.

05

Glide

Glide Time joins the target surface, extending NOTE DNA into another layer of note-start behavior.

MACROS / NOTE-SPECIFIC GESTURES

One Lock can now move an entire musical idea.

Macros are already designed to gather multiple parts of a VECTRA sound into one playable gesture. Making Macro 1–8 available to NOTE DNA means an individual note can begin from a different Macro state while the preset's original Macro architecture remains intact.

A bass note can stay controlled while an accent note pushes the same Macro into a brighter, wider or more aggressive state—all without duplicating the preset.

MOD / ROUTING / 32 DEPTH TARGETS

The modulation route stays shared. Its intensity does not have to.

All 32 modulation-route depth controls can now participate in NOTE DNA. That means one note can receive restrained movement while another drives the same modulation route much harder.

For repeating phrases and sequenced material, this creates an internal dynamic shape that belongs to the preset itself rather than an external automation lane.

QUICK WRITE / FASTER AUTHORING

The deeper system still has to feel immediate.

The 2.2.8 expansion does not simply make the target list longer. Quick Write now reaches more of the production interface so the new power remains playable rather than administrative.

164 ≠ 164 LOCKS

A larger palette, not a different core law.

The expansion changes the size of the available parameter pool. It does not turn each note into a complete duplicate preset.

Eligible surface

164 parameters

This is the current pool of VECTRA parameters that NOTE DNA can target across synthesis, modulation, sample/granular behavior, Macros and performance controls.

Per MIDI note

Up to 16 Locks

Each MIDI note can store up to 16 purposeful parameter differences selected from that larger surface. The parent preset remains the foundation.

FULL PANEL / PRECISION

Quick Write for speed. Full Panel for deliberate control.

The larger target surface is now organized with dedicated MOD / ROUTING and MACROS scopes. The Full Panel remains the place to inspect the note map, review stored Locks, edit values precisely and work with parameters that are better authored directly than captured live.

Relative

Move from the parent.

The Lock stores a difference from the preset's parent value, so the note follows the sound while retaining its own offset.

Absolute

Recall a specific value.

The Lock stores a fixed target value when a note needs a more deliberate identity independent of the parent's current position.

MUSICAL USE

The parameter count matters only when it changes the performance.

The real point of the expansion is that pitch and timbre can become linked decisions. A low bass note can stay narrow while higher notes open into wider Unison. Accent notes can drive a Macro or modulation route harder. Grainfield events can begin from different seeds. Sample-root behavior can vary with the role of the note.

All of that still belongs to one preset.

VECTRA 2.2.8

NOTE DNA now reaches much further into VECTRA.

164 eligible parameters. Up to 16 Locks per note. Expanded Quick Write. Deeper modulation, Macro, Sample, Grainfield and Unison control.
